Peter Ampt
Current Position: Manager, Future of Australia's Threatened Ecosystems (FATE) Program UNSW Institute of Environmental Studies
FATE has sponsored and coordinated the development of a project with the Central Tablelands Alliance of local councils and 3 catchment management authorities to assess the feasibility for the area to generate bioenergy from existing softwood forestry waste and potential biomass harvests from multi-species forestry carbon and biodiversity plantings. The project aims to generate complementary benefits (biodiversity connectivity, carbon sequestration, local industry, land management) whilst producing energy from biomass. A full proposal has been submitted and provisionally accepted by RIRDC. FATE is also a contributer to the Lachlan Renewable Energy Alliance, a organisation establishing blue mallee bioenergy plantations in the Condoblin area.
