
Dr Stephen Healy
Stephen Healy is Coordinator of the Environmental Studies and History and Philosophy of Science Programs of the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS). He is also Research Coordinator (FASS) of the Centre for Energy and Environmental Markets. Trained as an Photovoltaic engineer (PhD, UNSW 1993) Dr Healy’s research is now focused by the social, institutional and political aspects of science and technology. He has specific socio-technical expertise, on the social aspects of energy consumption, on community engagement, on socio-technical networks and on issues of sustainability more generally. His 56 publications (1 book; 2 book chapters; 21 Journal articles; 22 published conference papers; and 10 unrefereed publications) include: many invited articles; international conference plenary papers; and have garnered significant citations including the IPCC’s Third Assessment Report. He is currently an investigator on a CSIRO Flagship Collaboration Fund $117,611 (1 yr) grant (Economic Modeling of Distributed Energy) and Research supervisor on the Australian Development Research Award ‘Overcoming Barriers to Renewable Energy in Rural Indonesia by Community Capacity Building’ ($310K over 3 years, awarded January 2008).
