Professor Val Pinczewski
Val Pinczewski is a Professor of Petroleum Engineering at the School of Petroleum Engineering, UNSW. He played a crucial role in founding the School as the first fully accredited program in petroleum engineering in Australia in1985. He works and teaches in the area of reservoir engineering. Together with Professor Mark Knackstedt of the ANU he leads a large group of researchers developing techniques to characterise the microstructure of disordered porous media and predict mechanical and transport properties. The work is of particular interest to the petroleum industry and is being commercialised as Digital Core Laboratories. In addition to teaching and research Professor Pinczewski is an active consultant to the petroleum industry in the areas of improved oil recovery and reservoir analysis.
